Kommona Paddle Race: Paddle For A Cause in Sunny Miami Beach!
The 2012 Kommona Paddle is coming up fast in April. All registration fees are being donated to the Make A Wish Foundation this year, and there is surely plently of fun to be had. All self propelled water craft are welcome including SUP, Traditional Paddleboards, Kayaks, Surfskis, and even inflatable killer whales. It’s true.
Racing is an excellent way to take your paddleboarding to another level, and gives you an excuse to train towards something. Practicing SUP and other forms of paddleboard on a regular basis will help you acheive a strong core, arms, shoulders, back and legs. It’s a full body workout that you can do out in the beautiful sunshine.
Races that serve as fundraisers for charity such as the Kommona paddle are particularly fun because there is less pressure to be the first one to paddle across the finish line and more emphasis on having a good time and getting to know your fellow watermen/waterwomen. There is, of course also a feeling of accomplishment knowing that you are raising money toward a worthy goal.
For 2012, the Kommona Paddle will offer 3 mile, 5mile and 9 mile courses for paddlers to choose from. Early Registration through April 20, 2012 is only $30, and day of race registration (April 21, 2012) is $35. To learn more and sign up visit
