The FUTURA Series merges the performance of new school fish design with the acceleration of FUTURE SHAPES TECHNOLOGY. This creates a surfboard with lots of top end speed but will still make a super tight turn in the pocket. The widest point of the board is slightly back of center creating a pivot point to help the board turn better off the top. And with the lower entry rocker you can maintain speed through those flat or mushy sections. This board will work well for any level of surfer. The Futura is Firewire’s version of a new school fish. This board is super fast and a ton of fun on days when the waves are small or lacking in power. The widest point of the board is slightly back of center creating a pivot point to help the board turn better off the top. With a lower entry rocker the Futura will maintain speed through those flat or mushy sections. The board has a wider nose so there is a little more volume forward which really helps this board get up and go. This creates a surfboard with lots of top end speed but will still allow you to carve and hit the lip. All Futura’s come in a swallow tail that has just the right amount of volume over the tail.
The construction of this board is the same as all Firewire surfboards and incorporates Firewire’s Future Shapes Technology. This is a l lb. EPS blank with parabolic balsa rail stringers that gets sandwiched between a high density skin which is then laminated with fiberglass cloth and epoxy resin. As with all other Firewires, this board has a “no maintenance vent” in the deck. This allows the core of the board to expand and contract because of changes in temperature and air pressure.
All Futura’s have a thruster fin set up and come with the FCS PC5 fins. This board will work in a variety of conditions but is best suited for small to medium surf, and with the sizes available it can be surfed by just about any skill level of surfer.
