Based on the ALTERNATOR. Firewire has made a board with the big guy in mind. This board offers the same benefits of the ALTERNATOR which incorporates all aspects of FUTURE SHAPES TECHNOLOGY, but in a size that is suited for someone of larger stature. The ALTERNATOR Series combines the perfect blend of a shorter rail line, a bit more curve, and a slightly thicker foil. This makes for a surfboard that paddles easy, fits in the pocket, and still turns on a dime. This board is available in a bump squash. Prices includes FCS fins. Boards from sizes 6'8"-7'2" come with the PC7 fin templates templates. This board will work well in all conditions. Everybody has what they consider a “go to board” or a surfboard for many types of surf conditions. This if exactly what Firewire Surfboards has developed with their Alternator series. This board has the perfect combination of a slightly pulled in rail adding slightly more curve giving the board a good balance point. It also has a little more volume throughout the board, which helps it paddle easier into waves and skim across the flat sections. With a relaxed rocker the Alternator is fast with tons of drive but will still fit in the pocket and turn easily. The Alternator comes with either a bump squash which works best in smaller to medium surf, or a swallow tail that will hold a little better in bigger surf. Both will work well in a variety of surf conditions.

The construction of the Alternator is the same as all other Firewire surfboards and utilizes Firewire’s Future Shapes Technology. This is a l lb. EPS blank with parabolic balsa rail stringers that gets sandwiched between a high density skin which is then laminated with epoxy resin and fiberglass cloth. This board like other Firewire’s has a “no maintenance vent” in the deck to let the core of the board expand and contract because of changes in air pressure or temperature.

Firewire has also kept the big guy in mind with this board. It offers the same performance benefits as smaller boards in this model but in sizes suited for a person of larger size, making the Alternator an ideal big guy short board. The Boards from sizes 6’0’-6’4” come with the FCS PC5 fins and sizes 6’6”-7’2” come with the FCS PC7 fins. This board works well in a variety of conditions and for surfers of all skill levels.
